Two hospitalized in two-vehicle crash in Warren
WARREN — A single lane of Route 1 was shut down for about an hour, Saturday evening, Dec. 14, after a two-vehicle crash.
After arriving on scene following the approximately 6:10 p.m. dispatch from Knox Regional County Communications Center, Warren firefighters used their jaws of life spreader to gain entry into one of the vehicles, in order to extricate the trapped driver. That driver was then transported to a local hospital.
A passenger in the other vehicle was also transported to the hospital.
The crash occurred on Route 1 at the intersection with Sandy Shores Road, in the dark, during a rainstorm.
Police are investigating the cause, however, it is believed that one vehicle pulled out in front of the other.
Ambulances from both Warren and Waldoboro responded to this crash, as did two deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Traffic returned to normal about an hour later.
