Two adults deceased after carbon monoxide leak in Freedom home
FREEDOM — Two adults were found deceased in a Freedom home Oct. 22, following a suspected carbon monoxide poisoning, according to a media report from Waldo County Sheriff's Sergeant Cody Laite.
Waldo County Dispatch received a call around 6:04 a.m., from a person reporting a possible propane leak at the Belfast Road home. The caller also reported that there were currently four occupants of the residence.
Members of the local fire department traveled to the scene in addition to SO deputies. Upon arrival at the scene, the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning were reportedly present, and two adults were subsequently found deceased.
Two other adults in the residence were transported by ambulance to Waldo County General Hospital.
Though the incident remains under investigation, Laite wrote in his press release that a propane fire boiler that was improperly vented was a contributing cause.
Additional details will be released at a later date, according to the press release.
