Turn on the Taps series to feature Maine Water Company officials, Sept. 25
ROCKPORT — The concluding program in the series, Turn on the Taps, will feature officials of the Maine Water Company on Wednesday, Sept. 25, beginning at 11 a.m., ending at 12:30 p.m., at Nativity Lutheran Church, 179 Old County Road. The guest speakers include Mark Vannoy, President; Mike Cummons, Vice President; Mike Ames, Director of Service Delivery; Mary Jane Dillingham, Water Quality Manager; and Dan Libby, Chief Plant Operator.
This is an opportunity to hear from the providers of water supplies for Rockland, Rockport and Camden about how the Maine Water Company operates, how water quality is tested, and sustained, how water is collected and the source of potable water.
“If you have questions about what happens after a major storm, or what happens during drought conditions, or how you might be assured that your tap water is safe to drink, this is your chance to hear from the providers of this important resource,” said the Church, in a news release.
The Turn on the Taps: Ensuring Clean Water for All series of programs focused on water quality. Prior programs featured Nickie Sekera of Community Water Justice, who led a conversation about local water rights; farmers Bill Pluecker and Chloe Maxmin at Begin Again Farm discussed the importance of water quality and quantity in organic farming; and Jan Morrill of Earthworks and Ralph Chapman spoke about the risks and impacts of metal mining on ground water.
This program is sponsored by Nativity Lutheran Church and is free and open to the community. Refreshments will be provided.
