giving teens a foundation in conservation, entomology and biology

Tue, 03/26/2019 - 10:00am

SOLON — Georges River Trout Unlimited (TU) encourages teens from Midcoast and Downeast, age 13-17 who enjoy fishing and the outdoors, to apply to Maine TU Trout Camp.

2019 Maine TU Trout Camp will be held at Evergreens Campground on the shores of the Kennebec River in Solon, from June 23 to 28.

Maine TU Trout Camp is dedicated to educating youth about cold-water fisheries, according to TU, in a news release.

The camp is built on a model of other Trout Unlimited youth programs around the country. The camp’s mission is to build tomorrow’s conservation leaders, giving teens a solid foundation in conservation, entomology and biology, while keeping it fun and interesting with fly-fishing.

Applications are due April 15.

Georges River TU offers partial sponsorships to accepted applicants from the chapter’s region. Need-based full scholarships are also available.
