Thu, 01/09/2020 - 1:45pm

ROCKLAND — Trekkers’ Bixby & Co. catalog fundraiser is back. For another year, Rockland-based Trekkers teams up with Bixby & Co. in a locals-supporting-locals fundraising effort. To help Trekkers students raise funds for their program dues, Bixby & Co., a chocolate confectionery company, is offering a catalog of treats to the community.

Running now through February 7, 30% of every item sold by a student will go directly to that student’s dues, which enables participation in opportunities like college and career expeditions.

New this year are Creamy Pumpkin Caramels, sold alongside Maine Sea Salted Caramels, Bixby Bites, Needhams, bean to bar chocolates, drinking chocolate, cacao nibs, puffin pops, snacking clusters, peanut butter bites, and beauty products like chocolate lip balm and a cacao scrub bar. Items range in price from $1.99 to $33.

To purchase items for this fundraiser, reach out to a Trekkers student or call the Trekkers office at 207-594-5095. Orders must be submitted by Friday, Feb. 7. Students and those who order through the Trekkers office will be able to pick up fulfilled orders during the first week in March.

Catalogs are available at the Trekkers office, located at 58 Park Street, Suite 202, in Rockland, and open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

    About Trekkers:

For 25 years, Trekkers has been cultivating the inherent strengths of young people through the power of long-term mentoring relationships. Trekkers utilizes outdoor, experiential, and expeditionary education as a means of strengthening resiliency, raising aspirations, defining post-secondary goals, and increasing connections between young people and their communities. Founded in 1994, Trekkers serves seventh through-twelfth-grade students from the Midcoast communities of Owls Head, Thomaston, South Thomaston, Rockland, Cushing and St. George.

Recognizing that youth throughout Maine and beyond would benefit from the Trekkers model, the Trekkers Training Institute was founded in 2016 to provide training in Trekkers Youth Development Principles to youth development professionals and educators. Trekkers model program is now being implemented in eight communities in Maine and beyond.
