Thank you, from the Window Dressers

Sun, 12/04/2022 - 9:00pm

Window Dressers is thrilled to report the conclusion of another highly successful local workshop. The Belfast and Searsport Window Dressers organizers joined together in 2022 to carry out two projects.  In October, we offered to re-wrap damaged inserts produced in earlier years.

This project took place in the Searsport Community Center and we re-wrapped 110 inserts. In November, we built and wrapped 467 new inserts at the Belfast Boathouse with the help of over 130 volunteers.

Window Dressers is a volunteer-driven nonprofit that makes these inserts to keep Mainers more comfortable in all types of homes. Our inserts help customers save money on fuel, reduce carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels, and eliminate drafts for greater comfort. As usual, 22 of our 69 customers, who could not otherwise pay for new inserts, were offered up to 10 at no cost.

We want to extend special thanks to the Town of Searsport for making its Community Center available in October and to the City of Belfast for allowing us to use the Boathouse again this year.

Special thanks also go to Norman Poirier, Belfast Director of Parks and Recreation, for all his support during our workshop. We also want to recognize St. Brendan the Navigator (St. Francis) Parish for significant and generous financial donations in support of our efforts.

The following local businesses provided meals, gift cards, or volunteers this year. We hope you will thank them for their support, as well.
