A thank-you letter from the owners of ‘Band Wagon’

To the Camden and Penobscot Bay Waterfront Community:

As the owners of Band Wagon, we wanted to extend our sincere thanks to all those involved in our rescue on Wednesday, July 13.

While we are heartbroken about our boat, we are incredibly lucky that no one was hurt thanks to all those involved.

Someone was certainly looking out for us that morning as we could have been cruising at a much faster rate, further out at sea, or in inclement weather or fog.

Special thanks to:

• Good Samaritans Brad Scott and his crew Charlie Garrigan, aboard the lobster boat Web, who heard our distress call and were first on the scene.

Under heavy stress the Web was able to tow the water-filled Band Wagon successfully back to Lyman-Morse.

• Harbor Master Steve Pixley who immediately jumped into action, taking charge in a calm manner and guiding us to have our 6 horsepower dinghy act as min-itug boat as the Web began drifting to port of the channel. A shout out also to Dominic Gioia aboard Lively Lady II, who also assisted.

• The US Coast Guard and the Maine Marine Patrol who heeded our call and guided us through the emergency.

Finally to all the staff at Lyman-Morse: Nancy Rowe, who we believe initially answered our call and led everyone into action: The travel lift team, Simon, Tyler, Drew, Noah, Liz and Imogen at the office and all the people who made us feel at home. We know we are forgetting people but we thank you all.

Forever grateful,

Rem and Susan
