Letter to the Community

Thank You From the Camden Harbor, and the day sailer fleet

Fri, 12/02/2022 - 1:15pm

As another busy season concludes at Camden harbor, we have time to take a deep breath, celebrate our hard work, and appreciate the supportive community we are part of.  Since the 1980s, the day sailing fleet has enjoyed working at the Public Landing as a cohesive group, employing a strong local workforce that help to create a fun, positive environment enjoyed by locals and seasonal visitors alike.

Sustaining the largest fleet of classic vessels in Maine is no small task and wouldn’t be possible without the support of our community and town.

As a fleet, our values and goals are well aligned, and we are always looking for ways to give back to our community. We are proud to support several local nonprofits with donations of our time, money, and excursions, including, the Knox County Homeless Coalition, PAWS, Coastal Opportunities, Sweet Tree Arts, The Montessori School, New Hope for Women, as well as individual local families in need.

We also enjoy taking local school groups out for educational trips on the bay, including Camden-Rockport Elementary and Middle School students. We consider it an honor to share the beauty of Penobscot Bay with members of our community who may not be able to access it on their own, and enjoy reciprocating the care, support, and generosity the community extends to us.

As we reflect on the 2022 season and begin to look towards 2023, we wanted to take the time to thank our community for their continued support. Whenever we hear a passenger from away exclaim how beautiful our town is, how nice the people are here, it is because of your commitment to keeping this community strong and vibrant. So thank you! And we look forward to seeing you out on the water in spring 2023!
