Teen crawls out of car following early morning Rockport crash
ROCKPORT — A Rockport teenager on his way to school took a Main Street curve too wide and wound up off the road, with the car landing on its side on the grassy edge of Goose River Golf Course.
After traveling more than 400 feet down the hill and through the field-like grass, the 2013 Volkswagen Golf tipped onto the driver’s door, requiring the 17 year-old male to crawl out of the passenger window.
The crash occurred soon after 7:15 a.m. Sept. 3 as he was traveling west on Main Street. He was alone in the vehicle.
North East Mobile Health Services tended to the driver, who was evaluated and then transported to Pen Bay Medical Center. His injuries were minor and he was wearing a seatbelt, according to Rockport Police Chief Mark Kelley.
Kelley attributed the crash to driver inexperience.
Firefighters from Rockport Fire Department also responded to the crash scene. Camden Exxon transported the car to a Camden garage.
