Sunday morning in Downtown Rockland

ROCKLAND – When driving into downtown Rockland one never is quite prepared for what might crop up and I suppose this is true of most cities, large and small. This past Sunday morning was no exception.
The windows of the Planet Toys were being painted for the Lobster Festival by Marjanne Raddmaker of Owls Head.
Raddmaker said that she is hired each summer for the Lobster Festival and every winter to pain the Christmas window at Planet. Upon looking at her work it is no wonder why. She is a talented artist who is descended from a long line of artists.
Also first thing Sunday morning was the presence of Tom Foy standing on the sidewalk at the corner of Main and Park streets holding his “Rockland PD Corrupt PD” sign to greet people to the downtown.
When asked about his sign and why he was protesting the Rockland Police Department he said his lawyer told him not to talk about specifics of the matter, but went on to say that not all, but a few of the bad apples had it out for him and that they were arbitarily handing out tickets and warnings.
“The officers who don’t like me anyways decided they would start busting my chops.” said Foy.
Officer Smith came along and stopped to talk to Foy. He was more concerned that Foy stay on the sidewalk and out of the road for his protection, as well as for motorists trying to get around the corner, than about the protest sign.
Raddmaker’s window art will be around for a week or more for everyone to enjoy.
