SPRUCE HEAD — May 23 marked the closing of “Music Makers,” a fine art exhibition by Spruce Head artist Katharine Cartwright hosted by the Craignair Gallery. The month-long show featured many of Cartwright’s music-inspired paintings, and the artist donated 100% of the sales of her work to support Midcoast Music Academy’s tuition assistance fund.

A wide selection of Katharine Cartwright’s work can be viewed at www.kacartwright.com.

The Craignair Gallery is located at the Craignair Inn in Spruce Head. Owners Lauren and Greg Soutiea have long been dedicated to supporting local artists, and the gallery is a beautiful showcase of their commitment to the arts community. The Craignair Gallery features rotating monthly solo exhibitions year-round, with mediums including oil and watercolor paintings, ceramics, glass, and more. The Gallery is open for public viewing daily throughout the year for art patrons, and in the evenings, the space transforms into a unique dining venue for The Causeway restaurant.

Midcoast Music Academy (MCMA), a contemporary music school, was founded in 2012 by Tom Ulichny and his wife Anne Bardaglio in Rockland. In its eleven years, the non profit academy has supported hundreds of students in achieving their musical goals through its tuition assistance program. MCMA currently serves over 170 private students in its studios, and hundreds more ages 0-80 through community programming in K-12 schools and other organizations throughout Knox, Waldo and Lincoln counties. In addition to music lessons, group classes, and community programming, MCMA recently added music therapy services to its offerings. More information about the school can be found at www.midcoastmusicacademy.com
