Songs of Solomon Gospel Choir in Camden, Dec. 14
CAMDEN — Songs of Solomon brings a program of inspirational music to Camden, Saturday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm Street, Camden.
The concert is performed by young people from New York City’s diverse Harlem community, and includes sing-along carols as well as the moving, spirited gospel favorites for which this choir is known.
Founded in 2001 by veteran conductor Bishop Dr. Chantel Wright, Songs of Solomon performs a varied repertoire including gospel, spirituals, anthems, and classical choral music. The ensemble has performed with such notable artists as Elton John, Ashford and Simpson, and American Idol winners Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino and Ruben Studdard.
Dr. Wright is a firm believer that arts education stimulates children spiritually and intellectually and brings a sense of pride and ownership to a community. Songs of Solomon is thriving in Harlem, serving children of predominately African American and Latino descent. The organization is spreading its wings with the new Songs of Solomon Academy of the Arts.
Bay Chamber is hosting this performance.
