Skate with University of Maine Men’s Hockey team at Midcoast Recreation Center
ROCKPORT — The University of Maine Men’s Hockey team will hold an open practice and Skate with the Bears, Friday, Sept. 27, at 5 p.m., at Midcoast Recreation Center.
“We are excited to bring the Black Bears Men’s Ice Hockey team to the Rockland-Camden area for an open practice and Skate With The Bears with kids of all ages," said Seth Woodcock, UMaine Senior Associate Athletic Director, in a Maine Coast Storm news release. "As the only Division I athletic program in Maine, we take great pride in being all of Maine’s team as we compete against the best program in college hockey and represent our great state.”
The Black Bear event kicks off the youth hockey season in the Midcoast. The Maine Coast Storm and MRC will be on hand with program and registration information for families interested in youth learn to play, house league and travel hockey.
“Storm Hockey is thrilled to host the UMaine Men’s Hockey team as we kick-off the 24-25 season,” said Maine Coast Storm President Kristin Falla.
Falla said the free event will also feature hockey ticket giveaways to Maine Mariners and UMaine Men’s Hockey games.
“Don’t forget to bring your skates and get to meet the team,” sadi Falla.
MRC skate rentals will be available for the Skate with the Bears portion of the event.
Falla and Jesse Simko, director at MRC, are looking forward to this special visit for the local hockey community.
“MRC is happy to host the Black Bears, as we’re sure this will be a fun and inspirational event,” said Simko.
