Sheriff deputies respond to two car crashes April 6
ROCKLAND – Knox County Sheriff deputies responded to two separate crashes, with one person injured, on April 6, according to a news release from Chief Deputy Tim Carroll.
The first crash occurred at approximately 4 p.m., on Ash Point Road in Owls Head. It was reported that when Charles Johanson, 27, of Thomaston, was backing out of a driveway he was struck by Kyle McCarthy, 23, of Rockport. Apparently, McCarthy tried to go around Johanson as he backed out of the driveway, but Johanson turned into the path of McCarthy causing the collision, said Carroll in the release.
McCarthy was driving a 2001 Dodge SUV and Johanson was driving a 2015 Ford truck.
An adult passenger in McCarthy’s vehicle experienced knee pain and was transported to Pen Bay Medical Medical Center in Rockport by Rockland EMS. No one else was injured.
Deputies Arthur Smith and Jeremy Joslyn, along with the Owls Head Fire Department and Rockland Fire and EMS, responded at the scene.
The second crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m., on Camden Road in Hope when Joshua Gray, 33, of Union, swerved to avoid a small dog in the road and lost control of the 2008 GMC Utility truck he was operating. The vehicle traveled along the ditch before riding upon an embankment, causing it to rollover onto the driver’s side. The truck had to be towed from the scene.
Gray complained of leg pain but refused treatment, according to Carroll.
Deputy Scott Redmun, who responded to the scene, discovered that Gray’s license was also suspended and issued him a summons for the violation.
Responders from the Hope Fire Department and North East Mobile Health Services also assisted at the scene.
