BANGOR — The Searsport girls basketball team will participate in the inaugural edition of the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame Classic being held Thursday, Dec. 27 and Friday, Dec. 28. 

The event will consist of 13 countable varsity basketball games played at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor and will feature 14 girls teams and 12 boys teams. 

The Searsport girls will challenge Central on Thursday at 3:15 p.m.

The full schedule of Thursday games will feature Penquis versus Greenville boys at 10 a.m., Piscataquis versus Penquis girls at 11:45 a.m., Washburn versus Fort Fairfield girls at 1:30 p.m., Searsport versus Central girls at 3:15 p.m., George Stevens Academy versus Mattanawcook Academy girls at 5 p.m., George Stevens Academy versus Calais boys at 6:45 p.m. and Brewer versus Cony boys at 8 p.m.

The full schedule of Friday games will feature Mattanawcook Academy versus Houlton boys at 10 a.m., Houlton versus Stearns girls at 11:45 a.m., Stearns versus Dexter boys at 1:30 p.m., Schenck versus Dexter girls at 3:15 p.m., Central versus Lee boys at 5 p.m. and Lee versus Calais girls at 6:45 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $5 per person each day and available at the door.
