ROCKLAND — Scott Eric Weed, 39, passed away on April 14, 2021 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was surrounded by the love of his brothers and sisters at the time of his death.

Scott was born on April 2, 1982, in Rockport, and was the son of Ronald and Cynthia (Doherty) Weed. He was proud to have been one of their 10 children, grew up in Camden, and attended the schools there.

Being highly intelligent, he got his GED and went on the University of Maine at Orono along with his brother, Ron.  Scott was a few credits shy of obtaining dual degrees in physics and mechanical engineering from the UMaine, College of Engineering.

He had a photographic memory, could rebuild a transmission, do calculus in his head, and had a strong worth ethic in college and in life. His employment included working at Cappy’s Restaurant, the Helm, and Mt. Battie Takeout.

For the last decade, he was a Custom Metal Fabricator at Rockport Steel. Scott worked on various commercial and residential projects including the Camden Library, and the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. His boss said, “I have never seen anybody as talented as Scott.”

Working hard was important to him, but so was enjoying life. He was fun, loving, energetic, and full of life. He liked to play guitar, ride his dirt bike, build with his hands, do backflips, climb trees, solve Rubik’s cubes, play pool, take his boat out, swim, waterski, watch movies, hang out with his friends, and, most importantly, spend time with his family.

As a brother, he was always helping his siblings by going above and beyond to support them. Scott was generous, kind, thoughtful, charismatic, spent a lot of time with his family, and attended every family function he could. Together with his father and younger brothers, they rebuilt a rowboat to fish with on Hosmer Pond. Scott tossed around a football with Ron at UMaine’s Fogler Library. He was a sweet, gentle, quiet, private man, and family was his life.

Not only was Scott a loving brother, but he was an AWESOME uncle. He was loved beyond measure by his nieces, and nephews. Macy said they were always excited to see Uncle Scottie’s red Toyota truck drive into the driveway. Their faces would light up with smiles because this meant they would play soccer, and, best of all, hide-and seek with him. One great memory was when Uncle Scottie climbed up on top of a house roof to hide. Another time, he hid underneath a vehicle. He was always making the children laugh, playing games with them, giving them attention, and he was their favorite uncle.

The best word to describe Scott was STRONG. Ellie said, “He had the strength of a thousand lions.”  He could carry a child around on each arm and one on his back, and he simply exuded strength.

Scottie, you leave a deep hole in our hearts and souls. Know that you are loved beyond measure. You were a joy and light in this world. We will miss your exuberant personality, love, smile, and handsome face. We were blessed to call you Brother, Uncle, and Friend. The memories we shared with you will always be cherished. We love you so much and will always miss you. Kiera says, “Thank you for Tigey.”

Scott was predeceased by his father, Ronald F. Weed, Sr., and his mother Cynthia May Weed.

He is survived by his nine siblings: Suzanne Moore and her husband Mason of Waldoboro; Samantha Snowman and her husband Joshua of Palmyra; Stacey and her partner Bill Soule of Hope; Seth Weed of Biddeford; Sarah Weed of Waldoboro; Cynthia Holland and her husband Jeremy of Helendale, California; Ronald, Jr., and his wife Victoria of Brooksville; Gerald Weed of Waldoboro; and Shane Weed of Holden.

He will be missed immensely by his special nieces and nephews: Macy, Myra, Maty, Ellie, Kiera, Hope, Jay, Alana, Bradley, Jazmine, Dakota, Bear, River, Matthew, Elizabeth, Evelyn, and Bella. He was a Great Uncle to Ethan and Grace. Bill and Jill Glover, who were like parents to him, and their son Josiah, his childhood best friend, will miss him dearly along with his AA sponsor, Gary.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for June. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain St. Camden.
