Round the Mountain Trail hike with Coastal Mountains, June 14

Event has passed

HOPE — Join Coastal Mountains Land Trust on a summer hike along the Round the Mountain Trail, “one of the most scenic and popular multi-use trails in Midcoast Maine,” said CMLT, in a news release.

Hikers will meet Friday, June 14, at 9 a.m., at the Thorndike Brook trailhead for an out-and-back journey.

Throughout June, Coastal Mountains is celebrating Evergreen members, who make trails, local conservation, and community events possible with recurring support. Starting June 1, new Evergreen members will receive two copies of the newly printed Coastal Mountains Trail Guide, a special Evergreen Coastal Mountains baseball hat or a beanie, member stickers, and the quarterly newsletter.

Land Trust members, Midcoast residents, and anyone visiting from away are welcome to attend this hike. Contact maevec@coastalmountains.org to register and receive updates about the event.

Directions: Thorndike Brook Trailhead is located at 223 Hope Street in Hope (Google maps does not show this accurately). For the Thorndike Brook Trailhead turn onto Hope Street from Route 17 (eight miles north of Rockland) or from Gillette Road. The new parking lot is just past the existing parking lot for the Georges Highland Path (¾ miles from Route 17). The new Round the Mountain Trail can be accessed directly from the parking lot, including a ¼ mile accessible, stone dust path.

Coastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay. The Land Trust has protected over 13,000 acres, offering 55 miles of trails for public recreation.
