Rockport poised to hire Camden Deputy Town Clerk Liz Lowe to fill Linda Greenlaw’s position

ROCKPORT — With Rockport Town Clerk Linda Greenlaw due to retire in less than a month, the Select Board is ready to hire her replacement. The town is offering the job to Camden’s current Deputy Town Clerk Elizabeth Lowe.
“After a long search, I am pleased to announce the hiring of Elizabeth Lowe as the new Town Clerk, as of January 6,” said Rockport Town Clerk Jon Duke, in his manager’s report.
The official appointment is to take place at the Dec. 12 regularly scheduled meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. in the Geoffrey C. Parker Meeting Room, at the Rockport Opera House. The meeting will be streamed at vimeo.com/rockportmaine
Before appointing Lowe, the board is to first confirm Greenlaw’s resignation as a department head effective January 5. Lowe is due to begin work Dec. 19 at the Rockport Town Office.
In his premeeting memo to the board, Town Manager Jon Duke wrote: “Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Lowe has served for over six years in the Town of Camden’s clerk’s office as Deputy Clerk. As the Town’s tax collector and Bureau of Motor Vehicles agent, Liz is intimately aware of the processes and challenges in motor vehicle registration and property tax collection. So not only is Liz well equipped to step into our office, but she’s able to help us transition into new areas, as well.”
Lowe and her husband, Andrew, live in Rockport.
“.... I am always glad to have yet another Rockport resident working with us to make Rockport better every day,” said Duke, in his memo.
He also invited the town to Greenlaw’s retirement party:
“While so many residents have stopped by to offer congratulations to Linda on almost 27 years of service to Rockport as Town Clerk, there is yet another opportunity to say, thank you. On Sunday, January 8, from 2 to 5 p.m at the Rockport Opera House, friends’ family and co-workers will gather at the Rockport Opera House to wish Linda well on her next chapter. We welcome all to attend.”
The Dec. 12 agenda also includes a proposed fee schedule for the harbor, including mooring and tie-off fees, as well as discussion about the town’s proposed capital improvement plan, which has been reviewed by the Select Board.
The board is also to enter executive session to discuss labor negotiations.
