ROCKLAND — On April 26, 2022, Rockland Police charged Brendan Boutin, 19, with criminal failure to stop and several civil traffic violations.

According to Rockland PD, on its Facebook page, the charges stem from an incident on April 21, during which time Rockland Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for minor traffic violations. The operator (Boutin) fled the stop at a high rate of speed. Due to Boutin's reckless operation, the minor violation for which officers were attempting to stop Boutin and the fact he was known to law enforcement, the Officer did not pursue Boutin.

Boutin is expected to be arraigned on the charges early next month and more criminal charges are expected, according to the FB page.

The incident took place on parts of Highland Street, Limerock, Oliver Street and Park Street.

“Rockland Police have reason to believe there is at least one video of the incident captured by a citizen,” said the page. “If you or anyone you know have video of the incident, we ask you contact Det. Sgt. Alex Gaylor at AGAYLOR@Rocklandmaine.Gov or at (207) 594-0316 Ext. 253.”
