The Maine State Fire Marshal's Office said this afternoon, Nov. 8, that a Rockland man has been arrested, accused of setting fire to a neighbor's mobile home in Rockland this morning.
Three people were asleep inside the home at the time, said the Maine Office of Public Safety, in a news release. No one was injured.
Fire Marshal investigators, working with the Rockland Police and Fire departments, charged 42-year-old Timothy Barbeau with two counts of arson and one count of aggravated attempted murder.
Barbeau was tackled at the fire scene by a neighbor, who held him until Rockland Police arrived to take Barbeau into custody.
He is being held at the Knox County Jail. The fire was at 23 Third Street and Barbeau lives at 2 Second Street, both in the Sunset Terrace mobile home park. The fire was reported about 7 a.m. Investigators say gasoline was used to start the fire which caused minor damage to the mobile home.
