Rockland Makers Market inaugural season starts June 1

ROCKLAND — The Rockland Makers Market will start its inaugural season on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., in Harbor Park, Rockland. With over 40 local makers, the public will find everything from paintings and prints to pottery, stained glass, photography, jewelry, candles, soaps and salves, sea glass crafts, woodworking, books, food and more, according to Rockland Makers Market, in a news release.

Producer Christa Zuber has been running an arts market in Concord, New Hampshire since 2019 and she is excited to start a market in her new hometown. Having moved to Rockland in 2020, Zuber was unsure if there was already a regular makers market in Rockland as it was during the pandemic.

“It was hard to tell if there wasn’t a market because of Covid, if there used to be one or if there would be one in the future,” said the release. “So, she waited and reached out to the people she met as things started to reopen. She learned that there was a hole missing for artists and artisans who don’t fit into the mold of a gallery on Main Street, but who were looking for a reliable, cost-effective local makers market.”

With help from several community members and organizations, including Rockland Main Street, and several city councilors and city hall, Zuber received approval from the Harbor Management Commission to hold the Rockland Makers Market one Saturday a month June-September this year, including June 1, July 6, August 17 and September 7.

In addition to the Rockland Makers Market at the Harbor, you can find a selection of makers from the Rockland Makers Market at the Sunday Strolls on Main Street on the third Sunday of each month through October from 12 - 4 p.m.
