BELFAST — Roberta F. “Bobbie” (Goodwin) Riley, 84, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2017, in Belfast, surrounded by her family. She was born in Brooks on July 6, 1932, to Marion and Beulah (Dodge) Goodwin.

She attended Morse High School and worked at many jobs locally, including the pants factory, Grants Dairy, shoe shops, poultry processors and Mathew Bros., to name a few. She was a member of the Chicken Reelers Square Dance Club, TOPS weight loss group and First Baptist Church in Belfast, where she also taught Sunday school as well as being a Boy Scout den mother and Girl Scout leader. Her home was open after school to all the neighborhood kids as well as her children and grandchildren.

Each November she took pride in making raspberry pies for the crew at hunting camp in Monroe. At Christmas time she made her popcorn balls and divinity fudge for the Christmas bazaar. Her family fondly remembers her always saying "the time to be happy is now".

Bobbie enjoyed kayaking, walking her dogs and listening to the loons. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren to swim at Half Moon Pond. Her last five days were spent in Hospice sharing time and creating memories with her family surrounding her day and night, sharing stories and listening to campfire songs.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Frank Riley Sr.; her son, David P. Riley; and her sister, Nancy Shute. Bobbie is survived by her loving children, Walter "Frank" Riley Jr. and his wife, Debora, of Northport, and Ruth Littlefield and her husband, Jason, of Belfast; her siblings, Charlotte Bowen and her husband, Norman, of Belfast, and Emma Lowe of Jackson; her sisters-in-law, Marge Riley, Eunice Palmer, June Riley and Shirley Bowden; her grandchildren, Frank Riley and his wife, Andrea Murphy, Miranda Riley and her significant other, Jeff Parenteau, Zachary and his wife, Jessica, Danielle Littlefield and her significant other, Andy Whalen, and Madison Littlefield and her significant other, Jordan Luther; her great-grandchildren, Noah Cote, Esmae Cote and Jacob Whalen; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Belfast, followed by a graveside interment at Grove Cemetery, Belfast.
