Richard A. Reynolds, obituary

SOUTH THOMASTON — Richard A. Reynolds, 84, died peacefully, Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Sussman Hospice House in Rockport.

Born in Ellsworth, December 9, 1935, he was the son of Joseph and Margaret Bickford Reynolds. Educated locally, he was a graduate of Pemetic High school in Southwest Harbor. Following high school he attended Maine Maritime Academy, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in marine science.

On June 16, 1957 in Northeast Harbor, Richard married Judith A. Hamblen. Together they raised four children and have enjoyed many happy years.

Mr. Reynolds served in the Merchant Marines, and later after coming ashore, served 2 years with the US Navy. For many years he worked in Commercial Shipping before beginning his career with the Maine State Ferry
Service. For over 34 years he was employed there, working his way up to Head Port Engineer.

Mr. Reynolds is survived by his wife, Judith of South Thomaston; his children, Deborah Jones of Thomaston, Richard Reynolds and his wife Allison of Phippsburg, Michele Wyman and her husband James of Lamoine,
Victoria LeGage and her husband William of South Thomaston; six grandchildren, Jennifer Colby and her husband Jason, Katie Leland and her husband David, Travis Reynolds and his wife Rachel, Casey Wyman and her significant other Aaron Hunter, Lynn Butman and her husband Adam, and Jeffery H. Dorr, Jr.; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
