Rev. William D. White, obituary

BRUNSWICK — The Rev. William D. White died May 2, 2017, his 93rd birthday. Born in Seaford, Del., on May 2, 1924, he was the son of Raymond T. and Amelia Elliott White. He grew up in Salisbury, Md. After graduation from Wicomico High School, he served three years with the United States Army during World War II.

After graduating in 1951 from Daniel Baker College in Brownwood, Texas, he enrolled as a theological student at General Theological Seminary in New York City.

Ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Maryland, he served Episcopal churches in Maryland, Arizona, New York and Maine.

For more than 10 years following his retirement, Father White served as volunteer chaplain at Parkview Medical Center in Brunswick, and has been a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brunswick.

One of his primary avocations was involvement in a Twelve Step Program, through which he was able to counsel.

Father White was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Adams White in 1986; and his brother, Donald R. White. He is survived by four sons, Paul and his wife, Candice, of Dresden, Patrick and his wife, Betty, of Pavilion, N.Y., Michael of Bath, and Mark and his wife, Jo, of Woolwich; one daughter, Mary Beth Smith and her husband, Gordon, of Brunswick; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Eucharist Service will be held Saturday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 27 Pleasant St. in Brunswick. The Rev. Carolyn Eklund will officiate.
