"Reading Rilke Today" with Poets Corner, Dec. 8
For the fourth year, The Poets Corner will celebrate the visionary poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke. This Zoom event, Sunday, Dec. 8, at 4 p.m., will be led by Camden resident, poet and award-winning translator Mark S. Burrows and this year’s conversation will include poet Pádraig Ó Tuama (host of the “Poetry Unbound” podcast), and award-winning broadcaster and New York Times bestselling author Krista Tippett, founder of the “On Being” public radio show and podcast.
This is The Poets Corner’s most popular event of the year, according to Poets Corner, in a news release; last year attracted over 2,000 people. These distinguished speakers will talk about the relevance and impact of Rilke’s poetry on our lives today, drawing in part from Mark’s new translation of Rilke’s Sonnets to Orpheus (Monkfish, 2024) and his new book co-authored with Stephanie Dowrick which explores the relevance of Rilke’s poetic vision: You Are the Future. Living the Questions with Rainer Maria Rilke (Monkfish, 2024).
"The Poets Corner continues to be a beacon for poetry enthusiasts worldwide, fostering a community that celebrates the transformative power of words," said Poets Corner.
