Public invited to submit poems for Art and Ekphrastic Poetry collaboration
The public is invited to submit poems for Art & Ekphrastic Poetry, a collaboration between The Poets Corner and Page Gallery.
Ekphrastic writing is an age-old tradition of creating a literary description or commentary on a work of art.
“The exhibition and readings make connections between visual art and poetry to encourage us to consider new ways of seeing and deepen our understanding of both forms of art,” said Poets Corner, in a news release.
The Poets Corner and Page Gallery invite the community to write poems in response to images in the Art & Ekphrastic Poetry exhibition. Images can be viewed online at https://www.thepagegallery.com/exhibition/poetry-2023/artwork.
Submissions received by October 28, 2023 will be considered for “The Poets’ Selection” or “The Artists’ Selection.” Selected readers will be notified by November 5. Submit poems online through Submittable. See details on www.thepoetscorner.org/events.
“The Poets Selection” – 10 poems will be selected by The Poets Corner to be read on a Zoom event held on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 4 p.m.
“The Artists’ Selection” – Artists in the show will select 10 poems to be read in person at Page Gallery on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1 p.m.
