Police seek public assistance following Frankfort grocery store robbery

    FRANKFORT — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department is seeking public assistance following a reported robbery at the Wentworth Family Grocery store located in Frankfort, according to a press release from WSO Lieutenant Matthew Curtis. 

    The robbery occurred on January 16, at approximately 5:20 p.m., when a cashier was “held up by a single perpetrator,” according to the report. Deputies responded to the scene shortly after but were unable to locate the suspect. A video still of the suspect has been released by police in hopes a member of the public can help to reveal the perpetrator’s identity. 

    The suspect is described as approximately 5 foot 3 inches tall and 130lbs and was able to abscond with an undisclosed amount of cash after furnishing a note that made the demand. No one was injured during the event. 

    The case remains under investigation, led by Detective Sergeant Merl Reed, of the WCSO. 

    Anyone with any information on this case or who was in the area of the intersection of Route 1A and Loggin Road in Frankfort at the time of the incident is encouraged to call the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office to share their information.
