‘Poetry Aloud, Poetry Allowed’ evening with Kali Lightfoot and Betsy Sholl
TENANTS HARBOR — On Friday, August 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., the Jackson Memorial Library in Tenants Harbor will host a poetry evening with Kali Lightfoot and Betsy Sholl.
The Poet Laureate of Maine from 2006 to 2011, Sholl is the recipient of the Four Lakes Prize, a Maine Book Award for Poetry, The Felix Pollak Prize, the AWP Prize for Poetry, and the 2020 Distinguished Achievement Award from the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance. She teaches in the MFA in Writing Program of Vermont College of Fine Arts.
Lightfoot's poems have appeared in journals and anthologies and been nominated twice for Pushcart Prizes, and once for Best of the Net. Her first collection, “Pelted by Flowers,” published by CavanKerry Press, was chosen a Must Read by the Massachusetts Book Awards, and Best Dressed by Sundress Publications. She has recently worked as Maine Senior College Coordinator and Director of the National Resource Center for Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes.
