Poet Ellen Goldsmith to share from "Are We There Yet?"
Event Date
Thursday, July 09, 2026 - 06:30 pmCushing resident Ellen Goldsmith reads, writes and teaches poetry, all with equal enthusiasm. She will share Are We There Yet?, her first full length collection, on Thursday, July 9, at 6:30 p.m., at the Cushing Public Library. This collaborative community event, co-sponsored by Cushing and Thomaston public libraries, is free and open to the public.
"The poems in this collection observe, interrogate, and speak with a sense of quiet wondering about life’s uncertainties," said a Cushing Public Library news release. "They skillfully observe the wider world while simultaneously exploring the self."
Goldsmith holds an Ed.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University and is Professor Emerita of the City University of New York. She founded and directed the Center for Intergenerational Reading to provide professional development for early childhood teachers, preparing them to add family literacy workshops to their schools.
