all types of boats sought; tax write-off included

Penobscot Bay YMCA Boat Auction seeks boats, nautical items

Mon, 03/22/2021 - 1:45pm

Due to the current pandemic and uncertainty of the number of people that will be allowed at event gatherings – this year’s annual Boat Auction | Sale will be online. The boat inventory will be on the Y’s website and Facebook page in early April.

The Y is looking for boats of all types – sail, power, dinghy, kayak, canoe, skiffs, rowing shells, or surf boards that individuals would like to donate as a tax write-off. Someone from the Y will stop by and make sure it is suitable, and arrange for transportation at no expense to the donor.

Boat owners can claim the selling price as a tax deduction. Boat donations will continue to be accepted throughout the summer and added to the online inventory when they are received.

Since the first auction in 1998, this major fundraising event will continue to provide much needed support for families to help send their kids to the Summer Camp. The Y's mission of keeping the Y accessible to everyone regardless of financial capacity is anchored firmly in its commitment to social responsibility.

With a commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

To donate a boat or for more information email boats@penbayymca.org or call Marcia Roberts, Development Director at the Y at 236-3375, ext. 209.
