ROCKPORT — Get ready to run, walk, or waddle at the Penobscot Bay YMCA’s annual Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk on Friday, Nov. 29, at 8:30 a.m., in Rockport. This family-friendly event welcomes participants of all ages and paces to a chipped race the day after Thanksgiving (costumes are highly encouraged).

New this year is a free Tot Trot, at 7:45 a.m., for kids 5 and under, where little ones can dash to the finish line for their own mini-race experience.

The first 250 registrants receive a free Turkey Trot long-sleeved T-shirt.

After the race, stick around for the annual pancake breakfast and awards ceremony, free for all paid participants and $5 for spectators.

Proceeds from the event support the Y’s wellness programs, including their free social programs for Active Older Adults and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a free three-month program for cancer survivors.
