A Celebration of Life gathering for Penelope “Penny” (Sanborn) Carter, who passed away December 3, 2021, will be held Saturday, June 11, at 1 p.m., at the Belfast Boathouse.

Penelope “Penny” (Sanborn) Carter passed away December 3, 2021, at Waldo County General Hospital with her family at her side.

She was born August 23, 1955, to Donald B. and Virginia Sanborn in Manchester, New Hampshire. She graduated from Reading, Massachusetts high school, class of ’73.

Penny was a resident of Northport, Maine for the last 12 years and spent winters with her husband at their Ft. Myers, Florida home. She was devoted to her two dogs, Gigi and Bubba.

Penny was a CNA, working at the extended care facility Windward Gardens in Camden, Maine for over 20 years.

Penny is survived by her husband, Charles Carter of Northport, Maine; her son, Damien Gerrior and his wife Sabina of Idaho; her daughter Desiree of Belfast, Maine; her grandchildren, Maverick and Sydney Gerrior, and Remington and Ashton Thompson; her brothers, Donald Sanborn, and Douglas Sanborn and his wife Barbara; her sisters, Barbara and husband John Poloian, and Linda and husband Robert Muse.

A spring service is planned and will be announced at a later date.
