Pen Bay, Waldo care team members honored with awards

ROCKPORT and BELFAST — Six care team members from Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital were recently honored with employee awards during ceremonies held on the hospital campuses.

Each quarter, the hospitals recognize care team members who have won any of the organizations’ three employee awards:

 The DAISY Award, which is a national award honoring the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day. 
 The Sunshine Award, given to a clinical team member who supports patient care, for the extraordinary contributions they make every day in the lives of patients and families.
 The Standing Ovation Award, which recognizes care team members who display MaineHealth values, extraordinary service, an exceptional attitude, a can-do spirit and a willingness to listen and motivate.

At Pen Bay, Lindsay Geyer, RN, house supervisor, Med/Surg, won the DAISY Award; Lori Gary, MA II, Podiatry, won the Sunshine Award; and Deborah Ketchen, respiratory therapist, Respiratory Therapy, won the Standing Ovation Award.

At Waldo, Leah Taylor, RN, Emergency Department, won the DAISY Award; Victoria Patrick, CNA, Med/Surg, won the Sunshine Award; and Nathan Fowlie, Infection Prevention specialist I, won the Standing Ovation Award.
