Pecha Kucha Night Midcoast at Camden Opera House, Nov. 15
ROCKLAND — PechaKucha Night, an evening of visual storytelling, will take place Friday, Nov. 15, at the Camden Opera House. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the event on the third floor of the Opera House.
The presentation topics will explore a multi-disciplinary art collective, furniture design, the works of an interdisciplinary artist, the benefits of music therapy, adventurous theater and dance, and affordable community housing projects, among others.
Admittance is $5, with advance tickets available through the Strand Theatre, at www.rocklandstrand.com. Any remaining available tickets will be sold at the door the night of the event at the Camden Opera House. Advance purchase is recommended.
The PechaKucha format is a unique presentation style where eight individuals share their work, ideas, and creative process with a 20-second-per-image, 20-image slideshow. Each of the evening’s presenters will provide a six minute and 40 second glimpse into their craft. As PechaKucha International frames it, these gatherings are a place to “Share your passion, tell your story, find your people.”
Participants for PechaKucha Midcoast’s November 2024 edition are: Tia Anderson, Executive Director of Midcoast Habitat for Humanity; Lea Freni, Designer and Teaching Artist; John Jurcheck & Courtney Hayes-Jurcheck, Founders of Countercurrent Collective; Daniel Wenger, Music Therapist; Ashley Page, Artist and Curator; Alison McKellar, Camden Select Board Member; Lin Elkins, Furniture Maker and Craftswoman; and Paul Velleman, Novelist and Professor Emeritus of Statistics at Cornell University.
