HOPE — Patricia G. ‘Pat’ Lane, 84, died peacefully at home, Thursday, December 10, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in New Jersey, March 29, 1936 to Louis and Florence Singer Smith.

Patricia started her life in Maine at an early age. On March 25, 1968, Patricia married Adelbert Lane in Rockland. This is where they spent the rest of their life.

At an early age, Patricia began work at O’Hara Fish Plant where she became one of the fastest red fish cutters. The conveyor belt couldn’t keep up with her pace and fish had to be delivered directly to her work station. At the age of 40, she earned her nursing certificate and was employed by Knox Center for Long Term Care where she eventually retired. Patricia was a caregiver through and through even after retirement, serving as a private duty nurse for many local families.

She had a special place in her heart for animals owning several dogs and cats throughout her life. For the past 11 years she has enjoyed the love and companionship of her beloved dog, Benji. She was active in several churches and had a deep faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and enjoyed sharing his love with others. Pat’s beautiful soprano voice could be heard in the choir and she often performed solos. She enjoyed several missionary trips to Cuba and witnessed to anyone she could. Helping others was very important to her and she often opened her home to those in need.

She enjoyed several hobbies including crafting, crocheting, camping, birdwatching, and cooking. She was thrifty and frugal and could make a little bit go a long way. Her grandson remembered she never let anyone leave her house without being fed. It didn’t matter what was in her cupboards, she could concoct a meal out of just about anything. She was devoted to her family, and they were her number one priority. She took great pride in the fact that her family consisted of five generations. Christmas was extremely important to her, especially Christmas Eve. Each year she insisted that her entire family be together, passing out gifts to one another. Pat always had “extra gifts” on hand in case someone dropped by. Her extra touch of love going out with each gift.

Pat will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Pat is predeceased by her husband, Adelbert; her siblings, Bobby, Frank and Florence; and her son Joseph Booth.

She is survived by her children, Collen VonRumpf and her husband William of Palm Bay, FL, Katharina Staples and her husband Richard of Hope, Alan Lane and his wife Lisa of Cushing, Faith Johnson and her companion Mike Burns of Hope; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Stacie, Falecia, Harmony, Samuel, Bethany, Kristi, Alan Jr., Zachary, and Alec; her great-grandchildren, Santanah, Serayah, Jessie, Avery, Stephen, Rico, Titus, Uriah, Adelaide, Finn, Murphy, Joseph, Christiano, Sephira, Hunter and Connor; and her great-great-grandchildren, Hayzen, Penelope, Wilder and Noella; as well as several nieces and nephews.
