Patricia A. Bunker, obituary

VINALHAVEN - Patricia A. (Calderwood) Bunker, 80, passed away peacefully March 30, 2019 at the Sussman House in Rockport, Maine.  

A native of North Haven, she was born August 31, 1938, the daughter of Alton and Annie (Gilchrist) Calderwood.  She married Mike Bunker August 2, 1958 on North Haven and moved to Vinalhaven.

Pat was a breast cancer survivor, and until her diagnosis, she worked with her husband running Bunker’s Inc.  Later, she helped her son, Will, with Bunker’s Trucking and Propane Gas business. She enjoyed riding with her son, Will, as well knitting mittens and prayer shawls for the community.

She is survived by her husband Mike Sr., her sons Mike Jr. and his wife Lorraine, Loren and his wife Angie, and Will, all of Vinalhaven; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Hillary Bunker of Vinalhaven, Tyler Philbrook of Waldoboro, Erinn Bendtson of Camden, and Lyford and Trey of Vinalhaven;  four great grandchildren, Bella, Tyler Jr, Brayden and Ezra.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to her caregivers at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, Waldo County Hospital and The Sussman House.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Brown’s Head Cemetery, Vinalhaven.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s name may be made to the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, Maine 04841, or the Vinalhaven Historical Society, PO Box 337, Vinalhaven, ME 04863.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, ME 04841.
