OWLS HEAD — Jesse Ellis, a troop leader and volunteer holding many positions within the Knox Service Unit, was recently awarded the Thanks Badge from the Girl Scouts of Maine (GSME). The Thanks Badge is awarded to a volunteer or staff member whose significant service has had an exceptional, measurable impact on meeting the mission delivery goals of the entire council or the entire Girl Scout Movement.

This year, Ellis stepped up to help build the GSME Taking Care resource for troops and service teams. As a mental health professional who specifically works with members of the youth community, Ellis has been able to offer suggestions and ideas on how to foster a supportive culture rooted in her experienced background.

At the 2022 Transforming Leadership Conference, Ellis helped to build and deliver workshops for volunteers across the state, both virtually and in-person.

Ellis has devoted her life to volunteering with multiple troops.

“As someone who is always ready to take in new girls, and quick to lend a hand to those who need it, Knox Service Unit is incredibly lucky to have her,” said Girl Scouts of Maine, in a news release.
