Owls Head Village Library expands hours, collection

Fri, 09/11/2020 - 3:00pm

OWLS HEAD — Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 16, the Owls Head Village Library will be open Wednesday evenings, from 4 – 7 p.m., as well as on Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The library has seen a four-fold increase in usage since re-opening on July 18, according to the Library.

“So many people visiting over a four -hour time period became challenging due to a limit on inside patrons due to Covid, and some patrons were waiting outside for entry,” said the Library.

Staffing the library on Wednesdays will be new volunteers Pat Martin and Kirsten Choate, as well as occasional library directors.

In other fall news, OHCL has a new 23 volume DVD Collection of Maine movies – all are either written by a Mainer, about Maine or filmed/set in Maine, many in the Midcoast, donated by Michael Mullins. New book donations have exceeded 400 volumes and feature many current or recent bestsellers.

A survey is available at Town Office for anyone wishing to provide their input to the Library Association members. Also, some exterior and interior physical improvements are being made in the coming weeks.

Beginning September 25, patrons will be able to telephone the library at (207) 593-0302.

The Association thanks the community for their patronage, involvement and interest.
