Opening reception for “Hues of Nature” by Karin Strong, March 19
SPRUCE HEAD — The Craignair Gallery invites the public to the Opening Reception of an exhibition of fine art entitled “Hues of Nature” by Karin Strong on Wednesday, March 19, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Strong studied fine art at the National Academy of Design and the Art Student's League. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Illustration from Pratt Manhattan Institute and also studied at the Leo Marchutz School of Drawing and Painting in Aix en Provence. The artist continued her academic pursuit of fine art by developing a portfolio of animal behavior drawings from life at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. A life-long painter, Strong has taught art to all ages. As a child she spent her summers on North Haven Island in Penobscot Bay and moved full-time to Maine with her husband seven years ago.
The artist’s inspiration for her work on exhibition at The Craignair Gallery is the beauty of the Maine landscape in all of its seasons: the colors of the blueberry barrens and trees in the fall, the many beautiful and subtle hues of light upon snow, spring wildflowers in fields and the diverse and plentiful summer flora and fauna. She begins most of her paintings en plein air for later completion in her studio. Strong’s paintings are an emotional response to nature.
“Hues of Nature” will be on exhibition from March 18 through April 22, 2025.
The Craignair Gallery, located at 5 Third Street in Spruce Head, is open daily. For more information, contact innkeeper@craignair.com or visit www.craignair.com/gallery.
