Oceanside girls finish regular season with win over rival Camden Hills














ROCKLAND – The Oceanside girls basketball team finished up the regular season Thursday night with a match up against rival Camden Hills where they routed the Windjammers 63-38 for the win.
Oceanside finishes the regular season at 16-2 and in second place in the Eastern Class B Heal Point standings. Presque Isle is No. 1 at 18-0. The Mariners also earned the right to play for the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Championship Saturday night against Nokomis of Newport, but due to the storm the KVAC championships have been cancelled and the Oceanside girls have been declared the 2012-13 KVAC Class B girls champions. For the seniors on the team and the coaches it has been a ride over the past three seasons to go from 0-18 to KVAC Class B Champions.
Camden Hills finishes the season at 12-6 and is currently No. 7 and they will host a prelim game next week (date and time to be announced) against Hermon unless any mistakes are found in the Heal Points before ether make them official.
Oceanside led each quarter in this one 21-11, 36-15 and 48-25 after three quarters before closing out the game in the final stanza.
Scoring for Oceanside were, Kennadi Grover had (18 points, 4 assists, steal, 9 rebounds), Hannah Plourde (12 points, 2 assists, steal, 3 rebounds), Phoebe Ferraiolo (12 points, 3 assists, steal, 7 rebounds), Brooke Dugan (11 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, 3 rebounds), Makenna Brooks (5 points, rebound), Emily Gould (3 pints, 2 assists, 3 steals, 5 rebounds), and Emma Davis (2 points, assist, steal, 2 rebounds).
Oceanside was 12-of-25 (48 percent) from the foul line. The Mariners knocked down three 3-pointers, Grover(1), Plourde (1) and Brooks (1).
For Camden Hills, Jordan Knowlton led the team (11 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, assist), Megan LeGage (8 points, rebound, 3 steals, assist), Rachel Pease (5 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, assist, 2 blocks) all in the first half, Jaclyn Gilson (4 points, 4 rebounds, steal, assist), Kristina Alex, Annie Young, Eliza Boetsch, Maddie Bowman and Bekah Hilt all had two points each.
Camden Hill seas 8-of-12 (67 percent) from the foul line.

JV GAME
Oceanside 64, Camden Hills 60… This was the better of the two games covered Thursday at Oceanside with the Mariners holding on for the win.
Oceanside lead after the first quarter 19-10, but Camden came back to tie the score at 30-30 at the half. By the end of the third quarter the Mariners were back on top 46-42 and battled through the fourth quarter rally from the Windjammers that fell short leaving the Mariners with a clean sweep on the night.
Scoring for Oceanside were, Ari Curtis with a team high 15 points; Kalyn Grover 13; Brianna Dugan 12; Trittany Penn 11; Alexis Davis seven; and Meg McGonagle, Becca Boggs and Alex Moreash-Kennedy two each; The Mariners were 12-of-23 (52 percent) from the foul line.
Camden Hills was passed by Eliza Boetsch with a career high 21 points as she dominated the offensive boards. Also scoring for the Windjammers were, Maddie Bowman 10 points; Annie Young nine; Jane van der Schaaf and Macy Buck eight; and Hannah Wincklhofer six. Camden Hills was 11-of-13 (85 percent) from the foul line. The Windjammers had three 3-pointers, Buck (2) and Young (1).
