Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital (MCH) and Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital (BHH) have appointed Joseph Gaetano, MS, FACHE as the new Vice President of Operations.

Most recently, Gaetano worked for Siemens Healthcare advancing quality, improving technology, and enhancing physician and patient experience. He brings with him over 25 years of experience working in hospitals and healthcare systems around the world, according to MCH, in a news release.

His connection to Northern Light Health dates back 20 years to a large information technology project implementing a new patient accounting system.

A portion of Gaetano’s responsibilities include the oversight of primary and specialty care practices. With a particular interest in improving access to healthcare in rural areas, he looks forward to working with the practices to ensure they are meeting the healthcare needs of the community, providing exceptional quality, and delivering an excellent patient experience, said MCH.

John Ronan, president of MCH and BHH is pleased to welcome Gaetano to the senior leadership team.

“Joe will add an incredible perspective to our team,” said Ronan. “The combination of his wide-ranging experience with a variety of hospitals, his interest and expertise in technology, and passion for rural healthcare will certainly serve our community hospitals well.”

This summer, Gaetano moved to Castine with his family.

“He is eager to settle into Maine and explore all that this area has to offer,” said the hospitals.
