New date for homebuyers education class; Home repair for Beginners
ROCKPORT — Whether you are hoping to buy a home or are currently a homeowner, there is a class for you this month at Five Town CSD Adult Ed.
MaineStream Finance is offering a hoMEworks approved homebuyer education class at Camden Hills Regional High School.
The class, originally scheduled for October 8, will begin Wednesday, Oct. 29 for 4 weeks, 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. Previous Homebuyer education attendees have given the program high ranks and recommend that every first-time homebuyer attend.
In addition, participants who attend all classes receive a homebuyer education certificate, recognized by Maine State Housing Authority and Rural Development. The certificate is good for two years and will help with qualification for a low fixed-rate mortgage rate or low down payment.
For those who have a home, you know you can save a lot of money by doing things yourself, but you may not always know how. The class Home Maintenance and Repair for Beginners will give participants the confidence they need to do many minor repairs.
This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and ability to tackle some basic, minor but necessary maintenance or repair jobs. You will learn how to hang a picture properly, fix a wonky drawer, repair a piece of furniture, change out an old-style outlet, replace a light fixture, and chase down a leaky faucet or sink drain. Along the way there will be time to explore issues you bring to the class.
This class begins Monday, Oct. 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for 4 weeks. Class is held in the Wood Shop at Camden Hills Regional High School.
