BELFAST — A Belfast man was charged with indecent conduct May 8, after being found on a hiking trail completely nude.

Elvis N. Robbins, 64, was discovered lying prone and completely nude by a hiker at the intersection of a hiking trail off Merriam Drive and CMP power lines.

According to Belfast Police Dept. Sergeant Daniel Fitzpatrick, the man who discovered Robbins initially thought he had discovered a dead body and was visibly shaken when officers arrived. Fitzpatrick said the man advised him that he had been on the trail when he came upon a man lying on the ground.

Robbins, who goes by Elvis N. Robbins, is also known as Newell E. Robbins and is listed as indigent in court documents.

Robbins has a prior criminal record of exposing himself including two indecent conduct charges leveled in 2009, and a third from 2012. Courts documents for all three cases show he was accused of “knowingly [exposing] his genitals under circumstances which in fact were likely to cause affront or alarm.”

A guilty plea was entered for the 2009 charges, which resulted in a fine of $200 for each. Robbins pleaded no contest in 2012 and was sentenced to 364 days in jail with all but 60 days suspended, and one year of probation.
