MMS boys, girls soccer teams top Woolwich in season openers
The Medomak Middle School boys and girls teams battled Woolwich on Wednesday, Sept. 7 with both Medomak teams claiming victories.
Boys: Medomak 8, Woolwich 2
Medomak Head Coach Tenley Libby: “The [g]ame was well played with great teamwork and patience. Aiden Starr had a very good game in goal the first half before being subbed out. The defense had a strong showing last night. Scoring for MMS [was] Ian Doughty, Ethan Reed, Will Smith, Addison Mellor, and Marshall Sawyer. Some amazing passing and assists came from Anthony York, Addison Mellor, Ethan Reed and Isaiah Staples. An all around beautiful game on the pitch.”
Girls: Medomak 4, Woolwich 0
The game opener for the Medomak Middle School girls found themselves traveling to Woolwich, where they picked up a 4-0 victory.
It was a very hot and sunny day, but Medomak was ready and in shape for the game, according to Head Coach Andrea Williamson.
In the 1st half, 18 minutes passed when Abby Lash scored her first goal of the season. Then with 29 minutes off the clock, Stephanie Morse scored her first goal of the season. At the end of the first half MMS had 12 shots on goal to Woolwich's one shot on goal.
During the second half of the game, Medomak was able to score with nine minutes gone. This goal was scored by Cameron Baines. Then at 28 minutes past, Lash was able to find the net again and score her second goal of the game.
Medomak shot 17 more times at the goal during the second period.
