Mike Felton joins Saint George Community Development Corporation
ST. GEORGE — Mike Felton will be joining The Saint George Community Development Corporation (CDC) as its Executive Director effective July 1, 2025.
Founded in 2017, the St. George CDC seeks to strengthen community infrastructure by leading projects that support economic and community development, and by increasing access to education, healthcare, and workforce housing.
St. George residents know Felton as the inaugural superintendent for St. George Municipal School Unit (MSU), where he has worked for the last decade. In addition to taking on the usual responsibilities of a superintendent, Felton helped spearhead the Career & Technical Education (CTE)/Makerspace Project, which has received nationwide attention and accolades. The project will provide PreK-12 CTE programming, adult education and workforce training, and telehealth through the new CTE/Makerspace & Connectivity Hub Building. After a Grand Opening on Thursday, August 14, the building will be open for programs beginning this fall. The CDC has been a partner in the work of the CTE/Makerspace Project, assisting with fundraising, program development, and support since the effort launched in 2022. Felton will continue to work on programming for the CTE/Makerspace & Connectivity Hub, which will strengthen the partnership that the CDC has with the school and other regional service providers.
“I’m incredibly grateful and excited to continue to serve the community of St. George through the CDC,” said Mike Felton, in a CDC news release. “The CDC has been a critical partner of the school and CTE/Makerspace Project. By further integrating the work of the St. George CDC, CTE/Makerspace Project, and other partners, we can develop and strengthen programs that will benefit all community members – from the Baby Box Program for newborns, to telehealth for older residents, and from workforce training for adults, to housing for St. George graduates, residents, and workers. We have the opportunity to do transformative work that is rooted in the history, traditions, values, and people of St. George.”
Felton will be working with a strong team at the CDC. The new Operations Manager, Sara Spencer, joined the organization in Fall 2024, after working as the Program Director at AIO Food and Energy Assistance in Rockland. And, after time spent in food systems work and activism, Amelia MacDougall-Fleming came aboard in February to oversee our Community Cupboard food pantry.
"We are excited by the dynamism of this new team and look forward to expanding our services through their efforts and Mike’s leadership," said CDC.
As Operations Manager, Spencer has first-hand knowledge of the needs and opportunities that the CDC can address for residents of St. George and she is looking forward to amplifying the organization’s existing work.
“A resident recently shared with me: I truly believe this town is magical—I really do," said Spencer. “I agree; in fact, I witness it every day. Whether it’s a neighbor reconnecting with hope through a bit of support or a volunteer giving their time, the spirit of this community shines through. I feel fortunate to be a part of it.”
MacDougall-Fleming is similarly enthusiastic.
“I love working with our volunteers—they’re capable, eager, and really care about their neighbors” said MacDougall-Fleming. “You can feel how tight-knit the St. George community is: folks show up for each other. It’s such a privilege to be part of something that brings people together in such a powerful way!”
The Board of the CDC was delighted to find an Executive Director who shares these values.
“I can’t think of someone more committed to St. George or better suited to the role of Executive Director for the St. George Community Development Corporation as we continue expand our reach,” said Rob Kelley, CDC Board President.
