Midcoast Music Academy announces new faculty, Board members
Midcoast Music Academy (MCMA) announces new additions to their faculty and Board of Directors.
"Their expertise and experience are certain to enrich the community music school’s mission: to harness the power of making music with and for others, through equitable access to instruction, performance and community programming," said MCMA, in a news release.
MCMA’s new board member Courtney Naliboff is a teacher, writer, and musician living on North Haven island. She serves as North Haven Community School’s K-12 music teacher, an English teacher, and theater program director. The co-author of Your Postpartum Body, she also writes the “Saltwater Cure” column for Working Waterfront and is a member of the punk trio Bait Bag.
Another addition to MCMA’s Board of Directors is Jeff Charland, who serves as Vice President Commercial Loan Officer at Maine State Credit Union, leading business lending and development efforts in Knox, Waldo, and Lincoln counties. Her pedagogical approach is rooted in a commitment to preserving and passing on the unifying powers of music, as well as fostering curiosity and individualized growth in her students.
MCMA also welcomes Jeff Densmore to the faculty. Densmore considers music his life-time calling. He studied music at UMaine Augusta, and has gone on to play drums in all genres (from country to jazz to theater to gospel – while also studying in diverse settings (from the Drummer Collective in NYC to an intensive drum and dance course in Guinea). Currently, Densmore plays hand drums with the local trio Cafe Dayz and kit with the Belfast-based band The Hot Suppers.
