THOMASTON — Michael F. “Mike” Blais, 67, passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2020 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born on December 9, 1952 in Lewiston to F. Vincent and Claire (Mercier) Blais.

During his service in the United States Marine Corps, Mike met Kathleen Scrivani, and the two were married on February 15, 1975 in Baltimore. In 1984 they relocated to Thomaston where they built their home and raised their family.

Mike will always be remembered and appreciated for his strong work ethic and his lifetime of hard work to do whatever needed to be done to support and take care of his family. Without hesitation, he was always there to lend a helping hand and give advice. Mike’s vast knowledge on all subjects never ceased to amaze his loved ones.

Mike’s life was centered around his home and his family. He loved to garden and kept a meticulous yard. There was no home improvement project he wasn’t willing to tackle. Mike found so much joy in preparing meals for
family gatherings. At his family’s request, he would always prepare the dishes he was known for and had perfected over the years, yet there was always a new recipe or marinade he was excited to try. He loved Christmas, and year after year he outdid himself with lights and decorations, always striving to make the holidays magical and memorable.

In addition to his loving wife of 45 years, Kathleen, Mike is survived by his mother, Claire of Georgia; two adoring children, Nicole Greenlee and her husband Jimmy of Texas, and Christopher Blais of Warren; and his beloved grandson, Tristan, who lovingly called him “Bumpa.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Vince.

Mike’s legacy as a devoted family man and a true patriot will live on in the wonderful memories he leaves behind with his family and friends. He loved his country, flew its flag, and was so proud of his service in the Marine Corps. A kid at heart with an adventurous spirit, he loved to travel and experience new things. Mike’s love of life, his laughter, and his presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services, which will be private for immediate family members are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. His final resting place will be at Village Cemetery in Thomaston.
