THOMASTON — Michael Allen Estes, 28, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at his home in Thomaston.

Born September 20, 1991 in Redondo Beach CA to Robert Paul and Luz Nohora (Cufino) Estes.

When Michael was 8 months old his family moved to Maine.

Baptized at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Rockland, he was a regular attendee with his mother and brother during his early years.

He attended St. George Elementary School and the former George’s Valley High School in Thomaston. While in school Mike loved to play baseball, soccer and basketball. He also studied karate and played golf. Michael also loved music and fell in love with playing the saxophone.

He worked as a lobsterman, builder, and sold life insurance for some time.

His mother and brother remember him as having a smile that would light up a room and someone who laughed a lot and making others laugh at his jokes. He wasn’t afraid of singing along to a Britney Spears song if it meant bringing laughter to those around him.

Michael was a truly caring person and many people were blessed to call him a friend. He was someone you knew you could count on and would be there for you when needed. Michael was special in that he naturally drew others towards him with his infectious personality. His kind soul and beautiful spirit had an immeasurable impact on the people in his life. There was nothing he wouldn’t try to build, fix, or repair, his hands were full of magic!

Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit lives on in those who were blessed to know him and loved him.

Predeceased by his father, Robert, in 1999, he is survived by his mother, Luz Nohora Estes of Rockland; his brothers Paul Estes, of Tenants Harbor, and Jason Estes of Fullerton CA; his sisters, Angel Pia Estes of NC, and Dawn Pote Lynch of CT; his grandmother Maria Olivia Trianna of Thomaston; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, it is asked that donations in Michael’s memory be made to Trekkers Inc., 58 Park St Suite 202, Rockland, ME 04841, an organization that had a positive impact in Michael’s life.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on a later date and will be announced.
