Medomak Valley football runs past Belfast

BELFAST — The Medomak Valley varsity football team collected a 36-14 road victory against Belfast on Friday, Oct. 5. 

With the victory, Medomak Valley improved its record to 3-3.

With the loss, Belfast’s record dropped to 1-5 on the season. 

Leading the offense for the visiting Panthers were Drew Severson (23 carries for 169 yards, three touchdowns), Colvin Standring (three carries for 55 yards, one touchdown), Jacob Light (nine carries for 44 yards), Eli Miller (eight carries for 14 yards; 4-for-10 passing for 30 yards, one passing touchdown), Korbin Daniels (one carry for four yards) and Brian Pollard (two receptions for 21 yards, one touchdown). 

The Panthers were able to collect 286 rushing yards on the night thanks to offensive tackles Erik Benner and Nick Viles, guards Garrett French, Ben Martin and Elijah Lash, tight ends Gabe Shellman and Jacob Weston, and fullback Korbin Daniels.

Leading the defense for Medomak Valley were Dakota Nutter (six tackles, two assists), Pollard (six tackles), Lash (five tackles, two forced fumbles), Miller (three tackles, three assists, two fumble recoveries), Amos Hinkley (forced fumble, fumble recovery), Severson (interception) and Benner (fumble recovery). 

No stats were provided for Belfast. 

The Panthers will be in action again on Saturday, Oct. 13 in a home game against Winslow at 1 p.m. 

The Lions will be in action again on Friday, Oct. 12 when the Lions hit the road to challenge Old Town at 7 p.m.
