Medomak 8th baseball, softball best Camden-Rockport

WALDOBORO — The Medomak and Camden-Rockport eighth grade baseball and softball teams met on the diamond Thursday, May 5 in Waldoboro. 

Baseball: Medomak 14, Camden-Rockport 4

The bats were strong for the host Riverhawks who collected a 14-4 victory. 

Camden-Rockport tallied one run in the first inning, two in the second and one in the third. 

Medomak, meanwhile, plated four runs in the first frame, one in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth, three in fifth and one in the sixth. 

At the plate for Medomak were Josh Blake (single, double, two runs), Dima Cheesman (single, two runs), Jayden Drost (single, run), Owen Dostie (run), Wyatt Simmons (single, two runs), Ashton Francis (run), Tucker Brown (two singles, run), Konner Scofield (two runs), Aidyn Herring (single, run) and Griffin Holgerson (run). 

At the plate for Camden-Rockport were Kai Y. (two singles, double, run), Walter F. (run), Mason D. (single), Wyatt B. (single, run) and Wes M. (two singles, run). 

Working the pitcher’s mound for Medomak were Blake (three innings, three strikeouts, four walks, five hits) and Herring (four innings, six strikeouts, five walks, two hits). 

Softball: Medomak 10, Camden-Rockport 8

In a closer contest, one that Camden-Rockport maintained a 6-2 advantage after the fourth inning, the Riverhawks notched a win in an exciting fifth and sixth inning rally that resulted in four runs a piece in both of those innings.

At the plate for Medomak were Peyton Eaton (single), Kendall Simmons (two walks), Arianna Sproul (single, walk), Claudia Feeley (single, triple, two walks), Haylee Chandler (single, walk), Chloe Fox (two singles), Alyssa Smith (walk) and Ainsley Frothingham (walk). 

Working the pitcher’s circle for Medomak were Feeley (one inning, two strikeouts, three walks) and Simmons (five innings, eight strikeouts, seven walks).
